For many years Sloan’s has grown Christmas trees for the retail and wholesale needs of many people.  We have a large wholesale Christmas Tree Operation with some retail sales of “Living Potted Trees” and also a small  U-Cut as well.  It is open 7 days a week, 9:00 am - 4:30 pm.  For more information, please call the sales office at 519-695-3525 or follow the signs to Zone Rd.#8, beside the Bothwell Arena.

Here are some Sloan Tree Farms Facts on our Wholesale Christmas Tree Production:

  • We currently have approximately 300 acres of Christmas Trees  & another 175 acres for Potted Living Trees.
  • We sell Christmas Tree Bags by the Case and Roll
  • This year (2006) there are around 23,000 trees ready for harvest, with approximately 18,000 for 2007.
  • Bill Sloan Sr. started growing trees 50 years ago, and Bill Sloan Jr. has been growing trees for 36 years.
  • Our potted Living Trees available this year are:
*4 ft Fraser & Balsam Fir, & Spruce
*2-3 ft Serbian and White Spruce 
*12-18” White Spruce “Bow Trees” (decorated with a Red Bow)

White Spruce
Short needle in a medium blue-green colour, with a stiff waxy, quite prickly texture.  Takes heavy ornaments well.  Has a traditional formal shape, but a shorter house life.

Concolor Fir

Concolor Fir
Great choice of tree due to its soft long needles, which have a bluish hue, and its long house life.  It also gives off a mild pleasant orange scent.

Douglas Fir
A short needled tree with green non-prickly needles.  It has a nice smell and has a very good house life.  This tree is a very popular Christmas Tree on the West Coast as well.

Also softer feeling needles in a deep green colour, and is very popular for its layered appearance. Has a very pleasant, sweet scent. It has upswept branches and excellent needle retention.

White Pine
Very safe around children and pets because of the long, very soft and flexible needles.  This tree needs to be handled with some care and can only handle lightweight decorations. It has excellent needle retention.

Short Needle in a dark green colour with a stiff waxy, slightly prickly texture.  Will take heavy ornaments well Generally a very traditional and uniform shaped tree, but has a shorter house life than others.
Living Trees in a fibre pot, are also popular for the season.  Trees can be put in your home at Christmas and be planted in your yard in the spring.
